Why It Matters

Mental health problems affect 1 in 6 of your employees right now — and most organisations are not equipped to spot or support them

Mental health is one of the biggest causes of workplace absence and presenteeism in the UK. Yet many organisations respond reactively — waiting for a crisis — rather than building the awareness and skills that prevent problems from escalating in the first place.

1 in 6
workers experience mental health problems at any one time
Mental health conditions — including anxiety, depression, and burnout — affect a significant proportion of your workforce at any given point. Most are undiagnosed, unsupported, and quietly struggling while continuing to show up for work.
£35bn
annual cost of mental ill-health to UK employers
Deloitte estimates that poor mental health costs UK employers £35 billion per year — split between presenteeism (working while unwell), absenteeism, and the cost of replacing employees who leave. Training reduces all three.
300,000
people with mental health problems lose their jobs each year
The Stevenson/Farmer review found that 300,000 people with long-term mental health conditions leave employment each year in the UK — a loss of talent and lived experience that organisations can substantially reduce through early intervention and informed support.

The Process

How we deliver workplace mental health training

Every session is tailored to your organisation — not delivered off the shelf. Here is what working with us looks like.

1

Needs Assessment

We start with a free consultation to understand your workforce — the specific mental health challenges your employees are navigating, your existing EAP provision, and the outcomes that matter most to your organisation.

2

Programme Design

We recommend the most relevant sessions from our mental health training library and tailor the content to reflect your sector, workforce demographics, and any specific conditions or pressures your people are experiencing.

3

Delivery & Follow-up

Sessions are delivered onsite or online in the format that works best for your team. Post-session resources and signposting guides help extend the impact beyond the training room and into everyday working life.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is workplace mental health training?
Workplace mental health training helps employees and managers build the understanding, language, and practical skills to look after their own mental health and support others. Our sessions range from introductory awareness (what mental health is, common conditions, how to talk about it) to Mental Health First Aid (recognising crisis signs, providing initial support) and specialist manager programmes. All sessions are CPD certified, evidence-based, and tailored to your organisation before delivery.
What is the difference between mental health awareness training and Mental Health First Aid?
Mental health awareness training is designed for all employees — it builds broad understanding of mental health, reduces stigma, and gives everyone practical tools for self-care and peer support. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) goes deeper: it is a more intensive programme that equips participants to recognise the signs of specific mental health conditions, provide initial crisis support, and guide someone towards professional help. Both are valuable; many organisations run awareness training across the whole workforce and MHFA for a selected group of trained supporters.
Who should attend mental health awareness training?
Mental health awareness training is suitable for all employees — regardless of seniority, role, or whether they have personal experience of mental health challenges. Building shared language and understanding across a whole team is far more effective than targeting only managers or HR. Our Mental Health for Managers session provides additional depth for team leaders, and is designed to be run alongside rather than instead of whole-workforce awareness.
Can sessions be tailored to our organisation?
Yes — all sessions are tailored before delivery. We start with a brief consultation to understand your workforce, your existing EAP and HR provision, and any specific mental health challenges your organisation is navigating. The session content, signposting resources, and tone are then calibrated to your workplace. This is not a generic awareness talk; it is training designed for your people.
Are workplace mental health sessions CPD certified?
Yes. All of our mental health training sessions are CPD certified, meaning attendance counts towards employees’ continuing professional development hours. This is particularly valuable for organisations in regulated sectors, and for HR and L&D teams who want to demonstrate the professional development value of their wellbeing investment to senior stakeholders.
